Stamford man gets 14 more months for selling crack while awaiting prison

Danny Turkvan, 55, was arrested with crack cocaine days before he was due to report to prison on an earlier federal drug sentence, federal prosecutors said.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Stamford man who federal prosecutors say kept selling crack cocaine after he had been sentenced in an earlier drug case, and before he reported to prison, was sentenced Friday to an additional 14 months behind bars.

Danny Turkvan, 55, also known as "Smooth," was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in federal court in Bridgeport, according to the U.S. attorney's office for the District of Connecticut. He pleaded guilty July 8 to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

On Aug. 13, 2025, Turkvan was sentenced in federal court in Hartford to 46 months in prison and three years of supervised release for his part in a drug trafficking conspiracy in southwestern Connecticut, prosecutors said. He was free on a $150,000 bond and had been ordered to report to prison on Oct. 16, 2025.

Investigators found that Turkvan continued to sell drugs after that sentencing, prosecutors said. Stamford police arrested him on state charges on Oct. 11, 2025, five days before his report date, and seized crack cocaine that prosecutors said he intended to sell.

Turkvan has been held since his arrest, according to the U.S. attorney's office.
