Springfield man sentenced to prison for robbery of West Springfield Big Y
Travis Feliciano, 33, was convicted of unarmed robbery and larceny after prosecutors said he threatened a loss prevention officer while leaving the store with more than $200 in cleaning supplies.
WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — A Springfield man convicted of threatening a loss prevention officer while stealing cleaning supplies from a Big Y in West Springfield has been sentenced to two and a half to three years in state prison, the Hampden district attorney's office said Monday.
Travis Feliciano, 33, was sentenced Oct. 26 by a Superior Court judge, three days after a Hampden County jury found him guilty of larceny from a person and unarmed robbery, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors had asked for five to six years in state prison. Feliciano's lawyer had asked for one to two years.
According to the district attorney's office, Feliciano was caught on surveillance video on April 29, 2025, taking more than $200 worth of laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies from the store. Prosecutors said he put the items in a cart and left without paying.
A loss prevention officer followed him outside and tried to speak to him, prosecutors said. Feliciano turned around, threatened the employee and showed what the employee believed was a pocketknife, according to the district attorney's office. The employee backed away, and Feliciano left.
West Springfield police found Feliciano a short time later in front of a nearby Savers store and arrested him, prosecutors said. No knife was found.
