Portland, South Portland men plead guilty in southern Maine drug conspiracy tied to Massachusetts supplier

Daniel Lydon and Michael Myrick admitted their roles in a ring that federal prosecutors say distributed fentanyl and methamphetamine from a Massachusetts supplier across southern Maine.

A Portland man and a South Portland man pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Portland to taking part in a drug trafficking conspiracy that federal prosecutors said distributed drugs from a Massachusetts supplier in southern Maine.

Daniel Lydon, 46, and Michael Myrick, 48, were part of a group of traffickers that worked with the supplier from May 2024 through April 2025, according to court records cited by the U.S. attorney's office for the District of Maine.

Police arrested Lydon in November 2024 in a hotel room, where he was found with more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, more than 700 grams of fentanyl powder and about $4,000 in cash, prosecutors said. A search of his phone confirmed he had been working with the Massachusetts supplier and communicating about distributing drugs, according to the office.

Investigators then learned that Myrick was using his South Portland home to distribute drugs for the same supplier, prosecutors said. In March 2025, investigators obtained communications between the supplier and Myrick showing he was receiving drugs, including fentanyl, and passing them to associates and customers in southern Maine, according to the office.

Lydon faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison. Myrick faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years. A federal judge will set their sentences after presentence reports are completed.

Several others have been charged in connection with the same ring. Maximo Pepin, also known as Manny, 30, of Massachusetts, was sentenced May 7 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to a drug conspiracy. Alec Dodge, 35, of South Portland; Matthew Estes, 47, of Falmouth; and Patrick McCarthy, 34, of Scarborough, have pleaded guilty to a federal drug conspiracy offense.

Peter Call, 31, of Portland; Cassandra Smith, 36, of Old Orchard Beach; and Nicholas Porter, 35, of Windham, are indicted co-defendants of Lydon and Myrick and are scheduled for change-of-plea hearings, prosecutors said. The charges against them are allegations, and they are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
