Vermont State Police said troopers stopped a car traveling south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 93 after several callers reported erratic driving.

A Lyndon woman has been charged with drunken driving and reckless endangerment after troopers found her driving south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 93 in Waterford, Vermont State Police said.

Michelle Bachand, 40, was stopped on the highway after police received numerous calls at 7:09 p.m. Oct. 12 reporting a car being driven erratically on the northbound side of I-93 in Waterford, according to state police.

Troopers found the car heading south in the northbound lanes, stopped it and spoke to the driver, whom they identified as Bachand, police said. Investigators concluded she had been driving under the influence, according to the release.

Bachand was arrested and taken to the state police barracks in St. Johnsbury, then released on a citation. She faces charges of driving under the influence, first offense, gross negligent operation, negligent operation and reckless endangerment.

She is scheduled to appear in court in Caledonia County on Nov. 2.

The charges are allegations, and Bachand is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

State police did not say whether anyone was hurt or whether any other vehicles were involved.
