Peacham man cited on DUI charge after head-on crash in Caledonia County

Vermont State Police say Jason Jejer, 34, crossed the center line on E Peacham Road and hit another car head-on. The other driver was treated for minor injuries.

A Peacham, Vt., man has been cited on a drunken-driving charge after a head-on crash that destroyed both cars involved, the Vermont State Police said Tuesday.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury barracks were called to a report of a head-on collision on E Peacham Road near Blanchard Hill Road in Peacham on the evening of Aug. 30, police said.

Investigators determined that Jason Jejer, 34, of Peacham, crossed the center line in a 2006 Honda Accord and struck a 2020 Honda CR-V driven by Styvie Boyce, 40, of Wells River, Vt., according to the state police. Both cars were totaled, police said.

Boyce was taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital with what troopers described as suspected minor injuries. Jejer was not hurt, police said. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt, according to the release.

Troopers said they noticed signs of impairment while speaking with Jejer, who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and taken to the St. Johnsbury barracks. He was released with a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court's criminal division on Sept. 14.

The charge is an allegation, and Jejer is presumed innocent unless and until he is convicted.
