New York man charged with DUI after car leaves road in New Haven, Vermont

Vermont State Police said troopers found the car on Route 17 after it left the scene before first responders arrived, and arrested its 22-year-old driver from Ticonderoga, New York.

A 22-year-old Ticonderoga, New York, man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after a car went off the road in New Haven, Vermont, and left before first responders arrived, Vermont State Police said.

Troopers from the state police barracks in Williston and New Haven were called at about 9:20 p.m. Oct. 4 to a report of a car that had gone off the road, police said. The car was gone by the time first responders got there, according to police.

Troopers later found the car on Vermont Route 17 near Forest Drive and pulled it over for a traffic violation, police said. The driver was identified as Kelby Redmon.

While talking with Redmon, troopers noticed signs of impairment, according to police. He was screened and arrested on suspicion of DUI, then taken to the Middlebury Police Department for processing, police said.

Redmon was released with a citation to appear Nov. 2 in Addison County Superior Court to answer the DUI charge.

The charge is an allegation, and Redmon is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
