Burlington man sentenced to six years in fentanyl and cocaine case

Christopher Dezotelle, 43, was sentenced in federal court in Vermont after pleading guilty to conspiring to distribute fentanyl and crack cocaine around Burlington in 2024, prosecutors said.

A Burlington, Vermont, man was sentenced to six years in federal prison for his role in a drug-dealing conspiracy, the U.S. attorney's office for the District of Vermont said Monday.

Christopher Dezotelle, 43, most recently of Burlington, was sentenced Aug. 27 by U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Lanthier to 72 months in prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release, prosecutors said. He had pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute crack cocaine and 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

According to prosecutors, Dezotelle conspired with another person to sell drugs around Burlington between May 2024 and June 2024. An informant working with investigators made recorded purchases of fentanyl and crack cocaine from the two men, the office said.

The investigation ended with a search of an apartment in Burlington, where investigators found about 259 grams of fentanyl, 92 grams of powder cocaine, 22 grams of crack cocaine and smaller amounts of other drugs, including methamphetamine, prosecutors said. They also seized $4,406 in cash.

The Burlington Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case, according to the U.S. attorney's office.
