Hinesburg woman charged with DUI after single-car crash

Vermont State Police said troopers saw signs of impairment after speaking with the driver at the scene of a crash on Silver Street in Hinesburg.

A Hinesburg woman has been charged with driving under the influence after a single-car crash in the town, Vermont State Police said Sunday.

Troopers from the state police barracks in Williston were called to the crash on Silver Street in Hinesburg at about 9:36 p.m. Sept. 26, according to the release. They spoke to the driver, Sara O'Donnell, 46, of Hinesburg, and saw signs that she was impaired, police said.

O'Donnell and a passenger were taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center as a precaution, police said. The release did not say whether anyone was hurt.

At the hospital, troopers processed O'Donnell on suspicion of DUI. She was released with a citation and is due in court in Chittenden County on Oct. 27 to answer a charge of first-offense driving under the influence, police said.

The charge is an allegation, and O'Donnell is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
