Hyde Park man arrested after police find loaded revolver during stop
Boston police said officers found a loaded revolver in the hoodie pocket of a passenger in a parked rental car in Hyde Park early Oct. 16.
A Hyde Park man was arrested on gun charges early Oct. 16 after Boston police said officers found a loaded revolver in his hoodie pocket during a stop, the Boston Police Department said Saturday.
Kareem Seales, 24, of Hyde Park, is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, police said.
According to police, officers from the department's District B-3 were patrolling near Delhi Street at about 1:16 a.m. when they saw a rental car idling with two people inside and a large amount of smoke coming out of the windows. As officers approached, they saw both people smoking marijuana and noticed a questionable inspection sticker on the car, police said. Officers told the driver he could not smoke marijuana while driving and asked both men for identification.
Officers later asked both men to get out of the car, police said. Seales, who was in the passenger seat, resisted and leaned further back into the car before officers pulled him out, according to the department. During a pat-down, officers felt a hard metal object near his waistline and found a gun in the front pocket of his hoodie, police said. Police said Seales did not have a license to carry.
Detectives identified the gun as a Charter Arms revolver loaded with five rounds of .38-caliber ammunition, according to police.
The charges are allegations, and Seales is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
