New Haven man's body recovered from Connecticut River in Windsor after jet ski accident

State environmental police said Jose Nunez Quezada, 32, went missing in the water near the Bissell Bridge Boat Launch and was found the following morning after an overnight search.

The body of a 32-year-old New Haven man was recovered from the Connecticut River in Windsor after a reported personal watercraft accident, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.

Environmental Conservation Police, the agency's police force, were called to the river near the Bissell Bridge Boat Launch on the evening of Sept. 6 after a report of a jet ski accident and a person missing in the water, the department said.

Officers searched along with the Central Connecticut Dive Team, state police, and Windsor police and firefighters, according to the department. The man was identified as Jose Nunez Quezada, 32, of New Haven.

The search was called off around 11 p.m. that night and started again the next morning, the department said. Nunez Quezada's body was found on Sept. 7.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, according to the department, which said the case is still being investigated.

"DEEP extends its condolences to Jose's family and friends," the department said in its statement.
