New Hampshire woman charged with DUI after crash on Route 2 in St. Johnsbury

Vermont State Police said troopers saw signs of impairment after a 27-year-old Carroll, N.H., woman crashed near Severance Hill Road. She is due in court Nov. 9.

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. — A 27-year-old Carroll, N.H., woman has been charged with driving under the influence after a crash on U.S. Route 2 in St. Johnsbury, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury barracks were called at about 12:57 a.m. Aug. 24 to a crash at the intersection of Route 2 and Severance Hill Road, police said. The driver, Hannah Williamson, was behind the wheel of a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, which had front-end damage, according to police.

While troopers were speaking with Williamson, they saw signs that she was impaired, police said. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to the state police barracks in St. Johnsbury.

Police said Williamson was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time, according to police.

Williamson was cited to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court's criminal division on Nov. 9 to answer the DUI charge.

The charge is an allegation, and Williamson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
