Waterbury man charged with drunken driving after speeding stop in Johnson

Vermont State Police said a trooper pulled John Wolfe over for speeding on Route 15 and arrested him after noticing signs that he was impaired.

A 26-year-old Waterbury man has been charged with driving under the influence after Vermont State Police stopped his car for speeding in Johnson, police said.

John Wolfe was pulled over shortly after 10 p.m. on Oct. 21 on Vermont Route 15, where troopers were checking drivers' speed with radar, according to state police.

While speaking with Wolfe, the trooper noticed signs that he was impaired, police said. After a screening, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Wolfe was taken to the Morristown Police Department to be processed and was released with a citation to appear in Lamoille County Superior Court on Nov. 18, police said.

The Lamoille County Sheriff's Department helped state police at the scene.

The charge is an allegation, and Wolfe is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
