Two drivers hurt in Pownal, Vt., crash on U.S. Route 7

Vermont State Police said a Subaru turning onto U.S. Route 7 from Ladd Road failed to yield to a northbound pickup. Both vehicles were totaled and both drivers had apparent minor injuries.

Two drivers suffered what Vermont State Police described as apparent minor injuries in a two-car crash at the intersection of U.S. Route 7 and Ladd Road in Pownal, Vt., on Monday afternoon.

Troopers from the state police barracks in Shaftsbury were called to the intersection at about 4:50 p.m. Monday, according to the agency.

Police said Constance Berman, 84, of Pownal was turning left from Ladd Road to head south on U.S. Route 7 in a 2025 Subaru Forester when she did not yield to a 2003 Toyota Tacoma driven north on Route 7 by Anthony Davey, 32, also of Pownal. The pickup struck the Subaru, and both vehicles were totaled, police said.

Berman was wearing a seat belt and was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, according to the release. Davey was not wearing a seat belt and was not taken to a hospital, police said.

State police said a Vermont civil violation complaint is pending. Skies were partly cloudy, the temperature was 58 degrees and the road was clear and dry, according to the release.

The Pownal Rescue Squad and the Pownal Fire Department also responded.
