Madison Park Technical Vocational High School clears MSBA vote for feasibility study
The Massachusetts School Building Authority voted to advance a redesign of the Roxbury vocational school into its feasibility study phase, the city said, after Boston finished the eligibility steps in about 60 days.
The Massachusetts School Building Authority has voted to move a redesign of Madison Park Technical Vocational High School into its feasibility study phase, Mayor Michelle Wu and Boston Public Schools Superintendent Mary Skipper said Thursday.
The vote allows the city, the school district and the Madison Park community to study long-term options for rebuilding or renovating the school, including new classroom and shop space, according to the mayor's office.
The school was invited into the state building authority's program in December 2025 and entered its eligibility period in July, the city said. Boston finished the required eligibility steps in about 60 days, well short of the 270 days the process typically takes.
Wu said in a statement that the vote brings the city "a big step closer to renovating Madison Park Technical Vocational High School," and credited the school and alumni community with helping move the process ahead of schedule. Skipper said the district would work with students, staff, alumni and families during the next phase to shape a vision for the school.
The city will now seek an owner's project manager, followed by a designer. That team will run the feasibility study, which will evaluate potential construction options, the city said.
Madison Park offers 20 state-certified career and technical education programs, including carpentry, electricity, HVAC, metal fabrication and plumbing. A new program in construction craft labor is scheduled to begin in the fall.
The building authority, a state agency, awards competitive grants for school construction and is funded by one cent of the state's 6.25 percent sales tax.
