Rescuers carry injured Silver Lake woman from trail near Cooks Pond in Madison

Audrey Epstein, 76, was carried about a quarter mile to a waiting ambulance after she was hurt while walking on a trail, New Hampshire Fish and Game said.

A 76-year-old Silver Lake woman was carried off a trail near Cooks Pond in Madison, New Hampshire, on Oct. 4 after she was injured while out walking, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Audrey Epstein's husband called 911, and Fish and Game was notified shortly after noon, the department said in a release issued Monday.

Rescuers from Madison Fire and Rescue, Action EMS, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and Fish and Game went to a nearby trailhead. Epstein's husband met the first group of rescuers there and led them to her, the department said.

Rescuers put Epstein in a litter and carried her about a quarter mile back to the trailhead, where an ambulance was waiting.

The department did not describe the nature of her injury, her condition or where she was taken.
