Two hurt in pickup truck crash on Route 133 in Pawlet

Vermont State Police said a Pawlet man turning onto Route 133 crossed the centerline and struck a pickup driven by a Granville, New York, man on Friday.

Two drivers were hurt Friday morning when their pickup trucks collided at the intersection of Vermont Route 133 and Route 30 in Pawlet, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the Rutland barracks were called to the crash at about 10:15 a.m. Oct. 9, police said.

Douglas Perkins, 69, of Pawlet, was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram west on Route 30 when he turned onto Route 133 and crossed the centerline, police said. His truck struck a 2016 Ford F-350 driven by James Simonds, 58, of Granville, New York, who was heading south on Route 133 toward the intersection, according to police.

Perkins, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, hurt his hand and was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center. Simonds, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a head injury and was taken to a hospital in Glens Falls, New York, police said. The release did not describe the severity of either man's injuries.

Both trucks had moderate damage to the front, police said. Route 133 was reduced to one lane while crews removed the vehicles.

Police said a civil traffic violation complaint is pending. The release did not say who would be cited or for what.
