Stamford man sentenced to 162 months in federal prison in southwestern Connecticut drug case

Ramion Baker, 46, who pleaded guilty in December 2025 to drug and firearm charges, received a term that pushes his combined federal sentence to about 222 months, prosecutors said.

A Stamford man was sentenced Wednesday to 162 months in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking ring in southwestern Connecticut, the U.S. attorney's office for the District of Connecticut said.

Ramion Baker, 46, also known as "Ray Ray," was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford and also ordered to serve three years of supervised release, prosecutors said. Shea ordered part of the sentence to run consecutively to state prison terms Baker is already serving, which the U.S. attorney's office said gives him a total effective federal sentence of about 222 months.

Baker pleaded guilty on Dec. 17, 2025, to conspiring to distribute cocaine and fentanyl, possessing cocaine with intent to distribute it, and possessing a gun in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Prosecutors said a 2024 investigation by a Drug Enforcement Administration task force in Bridgeport and the Stamford police identified Rodney Canada as the leader of a ring distributing fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and PCP in Stamford and elsewhere. Baker, a close associate of Canada, stored and packaged drugs at his Stamford home and paid another person to store drugs, prosecutors said.

Baker, Canada and others were arrested May 14, 2024, when investigators searched locations in Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Darien and seized about three kilograms of cocaine, nearly 400 grams of raw fentanyl, more than 500 bags of fentanyl, five guns, a bulletproof vest and seven vehicles, according to the office. A search of Baker's home turned up more than 300 grams of cocaine, fentanyl, a .38-caliber revolver and $4,543 in cash, prosecutors said.

Baker was free on bond and awaiting sentencing in three state robbery cases when he was arrested on the federal charges, prosecutors said. He was sentenced in state court in August 2024 to an effective 10-year term in those cases. His record also includes state convictions for robbery and assault and a 2010 federal crack cocaine trafficking conviction, the office said.

Canada pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Dec. 15, 2025, to 110 months in prison.
