No one hurt in rear-end crash on Route 7A in Shaftsbury

Vermont State Police said a Sunderland driver did not stop in time and hit an SUV stopped in traffic near Buck Hill Road. Police said a civil violation complaint is pending.

No one was hurt when a car rear-ended an SUV stopped in traffic on Vermont Route 7A in Shaftsbury on Sept. 29, according to the Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the Shaftsbury barracks were called to the two-vehicle crash near Buck Hill Road shortly after noon, police said. The weather was cloudy and the road was wet.

According to police, Julian Cullinane, 18, of Sunderland, was driving a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta and did not stop in time as he approached a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek driven by Venetia Greenhalgh, 60, of Pownal, which was stopped in traffic. The Jetta hit the back of the Subaru, police said.

The Jetta's front bumper and hood were heavily damaged, and the Subaru's rear bumper was moderately damaged, according to police. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and neither was injured, police said.

State police said in a release Wednesday that a Vermont civil violation complaint is pending. Police did not say whom the complaint would be issued to or what violation it would cite. The complaint is an allegation and has not been decided. No criminal charges were listed.
