Boston police arrest Chelsea man, 18, after finding loaded handgun in Dorchester
Officers on patrol near Franklin Park Road stopped a man they said was struggling to hold up his pants, and found a loaded 9mm pistol, Boston police said. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
Boston police arrested an 18-year-old Chelsea man and seized a loaded handgun in Dorchester on Aug. 29, the department said in a statement released Sunday.
Officers assigned to the department's B-3 district, which covers Mattapan, were on patrol near Franklin Park Road about 3:50 p.m. when they noticed a man repeatedly grabbing the front of his waistband and trying to hold up his pants as if they were weighed down by something heavy, police said.
The officers approached the man, who would not make eye contact with them, according to the department. As they tried to speak with him, police said, he began taking items out of his pocket, and when he lifted his sweatshirt the officers saw the handle of a gun.
Police said the gun was a Glock 48 9mm pistol loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.
Zacarias Conception was arrested at the scene and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a large capacity firearm and possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, police said.
The charges are allegations. Conception has not been convicted and is presumed innocent.
