Brighton man charged with trafficking fentanyl and crack cocaine in Roxbury

Boston police said officers found about 28 grams of fentanyl and 18 grams of crack cocaine after watching a man bag a white powder behind parked cars on Southampton Street.

BOSTON — Boston police arrested a Brighton man on drug trafficking charges Nov. 2 after officers said they saw him packaging a white powder behind parked cars on Southampton Street in the city's Roxbury neighborhood, the department said Tuesday.

Christopher Morrisey, 38, is charged with trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl and trafficking crack cocaine, police said. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

The charges are allegations, and Morrisey is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

According to police, officers from the department's citywide Neighborhood Engagement Safety Team saw three people gathered behind parked cars at about 11:51 a.m. One of them was separating, knotting and handling several clear plastic bags holding a white powder, police said.

As officers approached, the man quickly put his hands into the back of his pants and pulled them out again, police said. Officers then found a large bag of fentanyl, eight smaller bags of fentanyl, seven bags of crack cocaine and a large bag of crack cocaine, according to the department.

Police said officers also found drug packaging materials, two digital scales and $316 in cash when they searched him. The drugs weighed about 28 grams of fentanyl and 18 grams of crack cocaine, police said.

A records check showed Morrisey had three active arrest warrants, according to police. The department did not say what the warrants were for.
