Stowe man accused of stealing truck and trailer, crashing in Eden while impaired

Vermont State Police said Joshua T. Limlaw, 37, faces eight charges, including drunken driving and grand larceny, after a stolen truck and flatbed trailer crashed at a home in Eden.

EDEN, Vt. — A Stowe man is facing eight charges after police said he stole a truck and flatbed trailer and crashed at a home in Eden while impaired, the Vermont State Police said Saturday.

Troopers were called at 4:13 p.m. Oct. 30 to a report of a man trespassing at a home on Maple Lane, according to state police. The man had reportedly stolen a truck and flatbed trailer before crashing at a nearby home, damaging property, police said.

Troopers found the driver, whom they identified as Joshua T. Limlaw, 37, of Stowe, and said they saw signs that he was impaired while speaking with him.

Limlaw was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a criminally suspended license, aggravated operation of a vehicle without the owner's consent, grossly negligent driving, grand larceny, violating conditions of release, unlawful trespass and unlawful mischief, police said. State police listed Michael Schifilliti, 45, of Eden, as the victim.

Limlaw was taken to the Northwest State Correctional Facility, where he was held for lack of $5,000 bail, according to police. He is scheduled to appear in Lamoille County Superior Court on Nov. 2.

The charges are allegations, and Limlaw is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
