One driver killed, another hurt in two-car crash on Route 15 in Orange
Connecticut State Police said one car moved into the other's lane on Route 15 southbound in Orange before both went through a guardrail. Investigators are asking witnesses and drivers with dash camera footage to come forward.
ORANGE, Conn. — One driver was killed and another was hurt in a two-car crash on Route 15 southbound near Exit 42B in Orange on Oct. 31, Connecticut State Police said.
Troopers from Troop I in Bethany were called to the crash at about 4:17 p.m., according to a state police release issued Sunday.
Police said a preliminary investigation found that two cars were traveling side by side when the car in the left lane moved into the right lane and struck the other car. State police said the reason it changed lanes is still under investigation.
Both cars then left the road, crossed the right shoulder and went through a metal guardrail, police said. The car that changed lanes then hit a highway sign post, and both came to rest on an embankment beside the right shoulder.
The driver of that car died at the scene, police said. The other driver was taken by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital with injuries. State police did not release either driver's name or describe the extent of the injuries.
The state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is assisting with the investigation.
Police asked anyone who saw the crash, or who was driving in the area at the time and may have dash camera footage, to contact Troop I in Bethany.
