Windham crash between two vans on Route 302 kills one driver

One driver died at the scene and the other suffered minor injuries, the Bangor Daily News reported, citing a Windham police captain.

WINDHAM, Maine — One driver was killed and another was hurt Wednesday evening, Oct. 28, when two vans crashed on Route 302 in Windham, according to the Bangor Daily News, which cited Windham Police Capt. Jason T. Burke.

The Portland Press Herald described the wreck as a head-on collision. Both papers put the time of the crash at about 5:30 p.m., and the Press Herald credited police for that detail.

The vans met on the stretch of Route 302 also called Roosevelt Trail, near its intersection with Land of Nod Road, the Bangor Daily News reported. Burke said a white 2014 Chevrolet van moved in front of a gray 2022 Toyota Sienna van, according to the newspaper.

One driver died at the scene, Burke said. The other suffered minor injuries and was brought to a hospital, the Bangor Daily News reported. Neither paper said which of the two vans the driver who died had been driving.

Police had not released the names of either driver, according to the Bangor Daily News.

Most details of the crash come from the Bangor Daily News alone.
