NORWALK, Conn. — A 46-year-old Norwalk man riding a scooter died after a crash on West Avenue in Norwalk early Wednesday, police said.

Police identified him as Christopher Moorer, according to WFSB, NBC Connecticut and Patch. NBC Connecticut and Patch reported that he died at Norwalk Hospital. WFSB said he died of his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Officers, Norwalk firefighters and paramedics from Norwalk Hospital treated Moorer where he fell before he was taken to the hospital, NBC Connecticut and Patch reported.

Police were sent to West Avenue at about 4:07 a.m., according to WFSB and NBC Connecticut. NBC Connecticut said the alert came from a 911 caller. Patch put the time of the report at around 4 a.m.

NBC Connecticut and Patch reported that a second vehicle was involved. Patch said Lt. Ramon Tejada, who issued the police department's release on the crash, confirmed that. WFSB's account described only a scooter crash and did not mention another vehicle. None of the three outlets described the other vehicle or its driver, or reported whether anyone has been charged. Police have not said what caused the crash, WFSB reported.

The department's Crash Reconstruction Unit and Identification Unit went to the scene and took charge of the case, NBC Connecticut reported.

Police asked people who saw the crash, or who know something about it, to reach Officer Equi of the crash reconstruction unit at 203-854-3005 or [email protected].
