Car hits barrier in deadly Route 2 crash in East Hartford, state police say

Troopers are seeking witnesses and dash camera video after the crash near exit 2 on the night of Oct. 28. Officials have not said who died.

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — A crash on Route 2 in East Hartford on the night of Oct. 28 left one person dead, and troopers are looking into what happened, the Connecticut State Police said in a release posted the next morning.

Neither the release nor WFSB identified the person who died or gave an age or hometown.

A single car struck a barrier near exit 2 on the westbound side of the highway, WFSB reported, citing state police. The state police release itself places the crash only on Route 2 in East Hartford.

The television station first reported the crash at 9:34 p.m. and initially described the injuries as serious. The state police release later called the crash fatal.

While emergency crews worked at the scene, the ramp carrying Route 3 northbound traffic onto Route 2 westbound was shut down, and drivers were told to keep away from the area, according to WFSB.

State police said the case is still open. They asked anyone who saw the crash, knows anything about it or has dash camera footage to call Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1000, or to email Joshua Durant at [email protected].
